LeBron James is now on his eighth season with the Los Angeles Lakers and with his free agency looming, his close friend is making sure that his decision will not be heavily criticized, especially by the fans of the Purple and Gold.

Carmelo Anthony thinks it is high time for the four-time NBA champion to do whatever he wants after giving his all for the Lakers, even if the fanbase had a hard time accepting him. The 10-time All-Star even think that they are taking King James for granted and at some point, wanted him gone.
“Y’all pushing him out in a sense. Y’all never accepted him in LA anyway from the beginning,” Anthony said in his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast.
Before that, Anthony drove down the idea that James has been embracing getting villainized by fans.
“He’s living long enough to be the villian. That’s what he’s doing. He’s doing everything at the top. Still holding this league down. This league don’t move without Bron,” he said.

“I don’t give a f*ck what nobody say. It don’t move without Bron. Until he’s gone. His position in this game is bigger than wins and losses throughout the season.”
LeBron James plans for 2026-27 season
James is playing in his 23rd season and while he still produces great numbers, people can’t help but wonder if this will be his last season.
The Lakers star addressed the speculations but what he said did not conclude anything.
“Yeah, I mean, I want to live,” he said when asked about his plan for the future.
“When I know, you guys will know. I don’t know. I have no idea.”

James has nothing more to prove as he’s won every accolade there is and at the top of many statistical records. Right now, there are rumors he will join former team Cleveland Cavaliers and retire with them.
