Philadelphia 76ers just had Paul George back. They also does not have 2023 MVP Joel Embiid in most games, having played just six. They should be at the bottom of the standings with such notable absences and yet they are up there winning tough games.

PG has one explanation. Tyrese Maxey.
The one-time All-Star has played in all 15 games so far and he is not just being present. He is the one who’s carrying the team in their shoulders without his two other co-stars.
PG thinks Maxey is now the heart and the soul of the team. He even compared him to franchise legend Allen Iverson.
“He’s the heart and soul of this team. This is similar to what Allen Iverson once did for the city. He’s our battery, and we’re witnessing one of them ones,” he said in an interview with The Athletic.

ABSOLUTELY DOMINANT NIGHT FOR TYRESE MAXEY.

Paul George thought Maxey is special
Before that, he also explained how special the Australian guard which started last year but then they had a terrible record, no thanks to injuries.
“I thought he had a phenomenal year last year, but it got lost in the season that we had as a team. Because of that, people didn’t really talk about him heading into this season,” George said.

“But, when you watch him just take over games and get us timely buckets, it’s special to see. We’re asking him to do so much. We’re asking him to play a ton of minutes and he’s delivering.”
The comment was made before 76ers’ game over the Milwaukee Bucks wherein Maxey scored his career high 54 points to lead his team to an overtime victory.
