Some people thought the Philadelphia 76ers should move on from Joel Embiid and they got a good reason. Tyrese Maxey is evolving into a superstar right by the people’s eyes. Even the 2023 MVP and Paul George agree that he is developing into a superstar.

As for Embiid, the main point of many is that he is already past his prime due to injuries. He was even excluded in the Top 100 player of the 2025-26 season by a sports publication.
Draymond Green begs to disagree. He thinks it is wrong to write off Embiid just like that.
“One thing I will remind people of is this. A lot of people say he looks like a shell of himself/ He missed the majority of last year with a knee injury,” he said in his self-titled podcast on Youtube.
“A knee injury that wasn’t just injured last year but has been bothering him and has been an issue over the course of time. He needed surgery on that knee injury.”

Embiid has played just seven games so far this season and is averaging 19.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Sixers are currently 11-9.
He missed their most recent games against the Washington Wizards but they still won with Maxey posting 35 points, six assists, and four steals.
Joel Embiid will return to form per Draymond
The Golden State Warriors star added that it is unfair to judge Embiid quickly just because he is not available. He believes the 76ers star and 2023 MVP can still return to form.
“He’s working himself back into shape. He’s getting his timing back,” Green added.

“He’s getting his explosiveness back. So, when you talk about the future of his career, I still think he’s special. I think it’s going to take him some time to get there. So, I would just tell people to have some grace.”
For now, Embiid’s best enemy is availability. His team is still not keen on fielding him in all games and he is still on minutes restriction.
