Things are looking good lately for the Philadelphia 76ers with all the positive news they are getting. There’s 2023 MVP Joel Embiid looking healthier and the whole getting back to work. Add VJ Edgecombe’s progressing chemistry with the team to it.

Edgecombe is the Sixers third overall pick last June and he has been hard at work in the past months. One-time All-Star Tyrese Maxey is liking what he’s seeing with the kid so far.

“He’s interesting, I like him though,” Maxey said as quoted by RBPhillyTake.

“His charisma, good guy, good kid. But, he works his tail off, he asks questions, he wants to be good. Those are the type of players you want to be around, players that really want to be great, want to win games, want to compete, want to do whatever it takes to help an organization become successful.

“We got blessed to be able to get him [with the third overall pick].”

Edgecombe will join a team that already has established stars in Maxey, Embiid, and Paul George. He is expected to help the team right away given his pedigree. He will have Maxey and veteran Kyle Lowry to guide him.

The team still does not have a confirmed fifth starter that will join the Big 3 and Quentin Grimes and Edgecombe might have case to get that.

VJ Edgecombe spotted with Dwyane Wade

Edgecombe received comparisons with Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade and Victor Oladipo.

“You know he’s 19 years old, he’s from the Bahamas. And on the player comp side, I’m saying he reminds me of Victor Oladipo when he was 19 and Dwyane Wade when he was 19,” commentator Jay Bilas said in the Pat McAfee show.

Picking Wade’s mind might happen soon after the two got together in an event.

The Rutgers standout was spotted in one place with three-time NBA champion in an event hosted by a perfume brand and some 76ers fans are quick to wish that the pair will have a workout soon.

Right now, there are no confirmed reports yet if they will work out.
