Tyrese Maxey is officially an All-Star Game starter for the first time in his career as the NBA released the last round of voting. The Philadelphia 76ers star is third in the Eastern Conference, behind Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and Cade Cunningham (Detroit Pistons).

Completing the first five are Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics) and Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks).

Maxey is happy with the selection and he knows what’s at stake. The latest editions of the February event have been heavily criticized for being boring and the players looking bored. Maxey vows to change that.

“To go out there and have fun, go out there to compete. I’m blessed to be there, not going last year, I have a different type of appreciation for it, so I’m going out there competing, and actually try to play hard and actually win,” he said told the courtside reporter after their win over the Indiana Pacers.

This is Maxey’s second All-Star Game. He missed out last season as he spent the first half on the injury bay.

He is currently having an MVP season and just this Monday, he made franchise history with insane statline.

Tyrese Maxey wants to play for Team USA

Maxey will play for Team USA according to the latest NBA All-Star Game format. He will mostly likely play against the likes of Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Putting on a show with the best of the best is not only his goal. He also wants to put on a show for the Americans.

“I would love to play for Team USA. If I got that honor that would be a blessing,” he said when asked the possibility of wearing his country’s colors in the international state.

“It’s in the United States so that would be really cool just to represent the country. In the country. If that’s something that I have the opportunity to do, then I’ll definitely be there for it.”

USA will host the 2028 Olympics.
