Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has extended her support to JuJu Watkins following an unfortunate season-ending injury during the NCAA tournament. The basketball world has come together to rally around Watkins, a talented guard for the USC Trojans, who suffered a torn ACL in a critical game against Mississippi State, drastically altering the trajectory of USC’s championship hopes.

The incident unfolded early in the first quarter when Watkins drove to the basket and her knee buckled, causing her to collapse onto the court. Concerned teammates and fans watched in dismay as medical staff rushed to her aid. It was a moment that not only silenced the crowd at Galen Center but also marked a pivotal point in the Trojans’ season, forcing them to adapt quickly.

Despite the devastating news, Watkins’ spirit remains a focal point of support and hope among her peers. Wilson, along with other prominent figures in women’s basketball, took to social media to express their ideas and send prayers, emphasizing the size of Watkins’ impact on the sport. Known for her exceptional skills and leadership, Watkins was a significant force behind USC’s success this season and is considered a generational talent.

As USC moves forward in the tournament, they will undoubtedly feel the void left by Watkins. However, her teammates are determined to honor her by pushing through and maintaining their competitive edge. Coach Lindsay Gottlieb has voiced her pride in the team’s ability to rally, despite the heightened pressure to perform without their star player.

    “Ju 🙏” Wilson said.

Recovery from an ACL tear typically spans nine months, making it a lengthy process for Watkins. The road ahead will involve surgery and extensive rehabilitation, but many are confident that Watkins will return even stronger, ready to reclaim her spot among the elite in women’s basketball.

With the support of fans and fellow athletes alike, JuJu Watkins has a strong network backing her on her journey to recovery, illustrating the deep connections fostered through the love of the game.
