For a while, people have speculated that Joel Embiid may have had something to do with the Sixers leak. It even got to the point that it became a betting line, and people wagered on the possibility of Embiid getting revealed as the leaker of the conversation. But how likely is he to be the leaker?
Long-time NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke his silence and went out to share his insights on what might have really happened inside the Philadelphia 76ers locker room meeting, which was leaked to the media and had been the topic of courtside drama for a few weeks already.
Adrian Wojnarowski appeared in one of the recent episodes of Carmelo Anthony’s podcast “7 PM in Brooklyn,” and among the topics that he discussed included the leaked locker room meeting that plagued the Sixers, with the issue focusing mainly on alleged schism amongst players.
In the podcast, Wojnarowski gave his insight on the matter. The way he saw it, it could have been anyone as a lot of other people, besides the coaching staff and the players, can be in a team locker room.
“If something happens in front of everybody in the locker room, here’s what happens,” Wojnarowski shared. “Player leaves the locker room, calls his agent like holy s*** you won’t believe. Assistant coaches are in there, equipment guys are in there.”
He added: “It’s a gossip league, they can’t wait to tell everybody what crazy thing happened.”
Joel Embiid Calls Leaker “Real Piece of S***”
When news of the Sixers locker room conversation broke, players like Joel Embiid did not deny nor refute that such a conversation happened but rather, expressed their disappointment that someone inside the team gave out supposedly confidential information to the media.
In fact, Embiid did not hold back and called the person who was responsible for the leak “a real piece of s***”
When it comes to the leak, the NBA insider believes that the intention may not be as sinister as people claim it to be, with some labeling the leaker as a “snitch.” It could be as simple as someone not being able to shut up and getting too excited to tell someone else.
“It’s not always, like, sinister,” Woj continued. “I think people always think who is trying to hurt this guy to put this out. Mostly, it’s guys just can’t shut up. They just gossip and then it gets out.”
Joel Embiid has been out for most games this season and has so far only played four games.
