Patrick Beverley has never been afraid of a hot take, and his latest one had everyone talking about A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces. The veteran guard jumped on X and shared a bold thought about the reigning WNBA champions, writing,

“idk if it’s the [wine emoji] but i really believe this Aces team could beat a NBA team.”

Some fans laughed it off as wine talk, while others agreed that A’ja Wilson and her teammates play with a chemistry and discipline that even some struggling NBA teams could envy. The Aces’ recent title run showed precision, toughness, and team trust that’s hard to find anywhere, regardless of gender or league.

Critics, of course, were quick to point out physical differences and the pace of play. But even they couldn’t deny how A’Ja Wilson has led her team with confidence and focus. Her presence in the paint, paired with the firepower around her, makes Las Vegas more than just a dominant WNBA team — it’s a complete basketball machine.

Whether Beverley meant it seriously or not, his post reminded fans of one thing: A’ja Wilson and the Aces are setting standards high enough to get NBA players talking.

A’ja Wilson Credits Faith And Teamwork After Another Aces Championship

Faith and teamwork. Let’s be honest, that’s as cliché as it gets when it comes to a formula for success. A’ja Wilson’s just credited that as the cause of their title-winning campaign. But what does it really mean to her?

After securing yet another championship, A’ja Wilson probably had time to reflect on what made the Las Vegas Aces’ journey so meaningful. And speaking to USA Today, she’s given an answer..

“For us to be able to celebrate this, it’s truly special,” A’ja Wilson said. “We worked our butts off to get to this point, and now it’s time to have some fun. I wish I could take the credit, but this is God working.”

The background for one A’Ja Wilson is one where she’s God-centered and raised well. And sometimes a lot of athletes, who need to project a lot, take the personal strength route. She took it by giving praise to who she knew was the reason for their victory.

Aside from her strong faith in the Almighty, she draws her strength from her teammates. And while this is the more cliché part of the statement, every word of it should be true. Basketball is not just a sport of superstars. It carries five players, plus those who relieve them from the bench. The management to keep them focused on just the game and nothing more.

No doubt, this answer is one that could be a calculated response to draw fans. But if you dig deep enough, you’d know that this comes from a genuine place.

As the celebration in Las Vegas continues, A’Ja Wilson’s message reminds everyone why she stands at the center of the league’s success story. A champion who believes her power comes from something bigger than herself.
