A’ja Wilson and the rest of the Aces got beaten by the Seattle Storm, which also ended their win streak. Storm guard Skylar Diggins recalled the feeling of having a blowout loss on their shoulders, and the confidence they gained from their recent win.
In a post-game interview with ESPN, Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins expressed confidence after she and her team ebay A’Ja Wilson and the Aces and forced an all-or-nothing Game 3.

“I mean, nobody’s found the answer to this equation for what, 16, 17 games?” Diggins said. “But for us, it was coming out and showing we weren’t scared to play against them. You could respect the team of that caliber who’s been great all year, who’s been great for many, many years, and not fear them.”

After admitting that there was hesitation from their side on the first game, Diggins expressed pride in how her team played in Game 2.
“I was proud of the way we responded tonight,” she added. “Obviously, we had a great home crowd on our back to feed off of. But we know this team is tough to beat one time, and we have to beat them again.”
For Diggings, the Stroim’s victory “bought us 40 minutes.”
Kamilla Cardoso Credits A’Ja Wilson as Biggest Influence
WNBA star Kamilla Cardoso said she modeled her game after fellow star A’ja Wilson, crediting Wilson’s poise and competitive edge for guiding her rise through the basketball ranks.
In a recent interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the 6-foot-8 center highlighted how watching Wilson at South Carolina and in the pros taught her not just what skills to develop but how to carry herself on and off the court.
“A’ja Wilson. I always watched her play, and when I went to college [South Carolina], they talked a lot about her career, and I’ve always admired her game, so yeah,” Cardoso explained.
Cardoso noted Wilson’s footwork, defensive timing, and toughness when finishing through contact as the main components she studied, even sporting Wilson’s signature shoes in games. Cardoso, selected third overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, now averages 13.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.

The state of South Carolina has a history of speaking reverently about honoring great legends from their program, and Wilson is one of the big names they have produced. In combining that reverence for her predecessor with her own form that has emerged in recent seasons, Cardoso has quickly established herself as one of the most dependable interior forces in the league.
A’ja Wilson and the Aces is expected to fight for their playoff advancement, as their recent loss forced a decisive Game 3 against the Atlanta Dream.
