Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson is in the lead for being the MVP this season. But outside of her stats, is her case for the race plagued with “voter’s fatigue”?
In one of the recent episodes of the podcast “Post Moves,” Candace Parker gave her honest opinion on the status of the MVP race in the WNBA for the 2025 season, particularly with that to the case of A’ja Wilson.
“My question was, would there be voter fatigue?” Parker said. “And I say that in the sense of… There are a lot of players who deserve more MVPs, because they have won it before.”
Despite this question, Parker still tipped off her hat to the Aces for highlighting Wilson’s case for MVP using her stats.
“Shout out to Aces because they’re talking about it… first in total points, first in blocks, first in total rebounds, first in defensive rebounds, first in 30-point games, first in 30-point double-doubles. I mean, that’s A’ja’s stats… let the numbers show.”
With the number of MVP awards that A’ja has had, are the fans and critics bound to have “voter fatigue”?
“Similar to, during the Jordan era, Karl Malone got one, Charles Barkley got one; Jordan should have probably had more MVPs,” Parker went on. “Same thing with LeBron… Bron got to four, and people were like, ‘All right, that’s enough!’ So my question is, is there going to be voter fatigue?”
A’ja Wilson Makes History in Shared DPOY Win
On Tuesday, A’ja Wilson, forward for the Las Vegas Aces, was awarded the title Co-Defensive Player of the Year after receiving 29 votes, tying with the Minnesota Lynx’s Alanna Smith. It is the first time in league history that there has been a tie in the DPOY voting.

Wilson’s strong presence, skills, and defensive flexibility allowed her to comfortably win her third DPOY award this season. Wilson is the anchor of one of the WNBA’s premier defenses and has exceptional timing to contest shots and a penchant for blocking shots and applying forward ball pressure.
After receiving regular-season honors, Wilson is now focused on helping to lead her team into the playoffs when they will take on the Seattle Storm, while hoping her leadership and defensive performance this season can evolve into a title for the Aces.

So far this season, A’ja Wilson is averaging 23.4 points per game, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. She shoots at 50.5% from the field and 42.4% from the three-point line.
