Las Vegas Aces star A’Ja Wilson had some compliments to share about her former Aces teammate Kate Martin when a fan asked about her experience playing with her.

Over at Threads, Wilson opened herself to a series of fan questions, and fans obliged, throwing questions her way from the typical “what’s your favorite” type of questions to questions about her experience working with people, and one fan asked about her thoughts on having to work with “Money Martin.”

“Kate’s energy was contagious!” Wilson responded to the fan question. “Never backed down from anyone.”

Martin gained her nickname “Money” when she was playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes, as she became popular as a player skilled in making clutch plays and just always being at the right spot at the most critical times.

Kate Martin began her WNBA career with the Aces when she was drafted during the second round as the 18th overall pick. She was eventually drafted by the Golden State Valkyries, the newest extension team of the WNBA.

While she was talking about the game energy of her former teammate, Wilson also has that same “never back down” type of motivation, particularly in dealing with tough game situations inside the court.

In an interview for a sports brand, Wilson broke down her mentality when looking at opponents she’s facing in any games she plays.

“Sometimes I wish people could see the game through my eyes, because they’d say, ‘A’Ja, how are you even successful?’” A’Ja Wilson said. “Like, I don’t see a face or a jersey. I just see a body. I’m out there thinking, how can I out-skill this body? Okay, they didn’t go for that fake, gotta try something else. That’s when the game starts to be fun. When you’re not dissecting your mind anymore, and you’re dissecting your opponent instead.”

    A’ja Wilson Holds Online Q&A

A’Ja Wilson engaged with her fans over at social media platform Threads and announced an online Q&A. Her fans were up to the challenge and threw questions her way.

When asked about the best advice she got, she said: “[I don’t know] who said but ‘nobody cares, work harder.’”

When asked about her Christmas wish list, she answered: “These Balenciaga totes I saw on a billboard.”

While a lot of league players have signed up to play for the new 3-on-3 league Unrivaled, A’Ja Wilson expressed her desire to prioritize time to rest and training for the 2025 WNBA season.
