A’ja Wilson was awarded the 2025 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player on Sunday, receiving the record for a total of four MVPs and back-to-back wins. Wilson earned 51 first-place votes (with 21 second-place votes) from a national panel of sportswriters and broadcasters, for a total of 657 points, surpassing three-time winners Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson.
With this achievement, Wilson also officially made WNBA history as the first and only player to date to have four MVPs assigned to her name.
Wilson topped the league in scoring for the second consecutive year and in blocks for a fifth time, while posting a single-season record 13 games of 30 or more points and 25 games of 20 or more points.
Miami Heat Legends Makes Bold A’ja Wilson Statement
Dwyane Wade sparked debate this week by asserting that Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson possesses the skill set to defeat certain NBA players in one-on-one matchups. Speaking on “The Underground Lounge” podcast alongside host Lou Williams, Wade pointed to Wilson’s resume as evidence of her elite status and capacity to take on men at basketball’s highest level.

“A’ja Wilson can get a couple,” Wade said. “She is smart. Get into a 1-on-1 with someone like A’ja Wilson, who knows how to play basketball, that’s got crazy footwork and all that, your a** is gonna get tore up if you don’t know the game. This isn’t just about being an athlete. You know what I’m saying? Like, ‘I have jump higher than you.’ That’s not gonna be the thing. So she can definitely cook.”

While Wade did not name any specific players, he thinks A’ja Wilson can beat in the NBA, but he stood firm on his belief that the four-time WNBA MVP can go toe-to-toe with the men in the league.
