Las Vegas Aces superstar and four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson did not hesitate to back Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier over the latter’s recent fiery comments towards the WNBA leadership, particularly towards Commissioner Cathy Englebert.
In an interview, Aces star A’Ja Wilson was asked about her take on the recent issue that involved Napheesa Collier and her jab towards WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. In her piece, Wilson admitted to not knowing Coillier’s full statement, but expressed support for her nonetheless.

“Just knowing Phee and what she believes in and what she stands for, I’m pretty sure she’s gonna stand 10 toes down on that, and we’re gonna be behind her,” Wilson said.
A’ja Wilson told @katie_barnes3 that she hasn’t had a chance to listen to Napheesa Collier’s comments yet, but said, in part: “Just knowing Phee & what she believes in and what she stands for, I’m pretty sure she’s gonna stand 10 toes down on that, & we’re gonna be behind her.”

In a recent statement, Collier called out the WNBA leadership and blasted issues with the game officiating.
“I want to be clear, this conversation is not about winning or losing,” Collier said. “It’s about something much bigger. The real threat to our league isn’t money. It isn’t ratings or even missed calls or even physical play. It’s the lack of accountability from the league office.”
Engelebert has since responded and said that her focus “remains on ensuring a bright future for the players and the WNBA, including collaborating on how we continue to elevate the game.”
A’ja Wilson on Clinching Finals Berth: “We Went Through Mud”
After clinching the Finals spot to go against the Phoenix Mercury, Aces star A’ja Wilson got honest about her feelings on going through a close and nail-biting fight against the Indiana Fever, as their semifinals series reached a decisive Game 5.

In a post-game interview, Wilson admitted that the road to making it to this season’s Finals has not been easy, and that their team, despite being favored most of the time by sports odds, was never complacent about winning the decisive series.
“Obviously, we’re not complacent,” Wilson said. “It’s not an, ‘Oh, we’re happy to be here,’ because we worked our butts off to get here, but it does definitely feel a lot different than the ones before only because we went through the mud for this. Like Coach always says, we weren’t necessarily buried, we were planted. We sometimes had to let the soil get moisture, and then we had to grow. Now we’re still growing.”
