Aliyah Boston, power forward for the Indiana Fever, didn’t hold back when she called out the refs in the WNBA for not allowing her to be the physical player that she is. Boston’s statements come at a time when Fever head coach Stephanie White spoke out on this during a press conference on Tuesday.
White basically called out the double standards that many players like Aliyah Boston have to face in games, all because of poor officiating. White, who took over as head coach of the Indiana Fever for the 2025 season, labeled Boston as the “worst officiated post player in the league.” In a recent episode of Candace Parker’s ‘Post Moves’ podcast, Boston spoke about this exact topic and compared herself to former NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

“See this is the problem, why. Why are you changing? Like just because I’m a physical player or Shaq is … does not mean he’s not getting fouled. It’s the same difference. Like there’s no way you can tell me someone like 6’3 gets stuck behind Shaq.” Aliyah Boston said on the ‘Post Moves’ podcast with Candace Parker.
Aliyah Boston has been playing for the Indiana Fever since the 2023 WNBA season and is currently managing an average of 15.2 points per game in the ongoing season. Boston is known to be one of the best physical players in the Indiana Fever and is renowned for this in the league.
Aliyah Boston’s 13 Rebounds Help Indiana Fever Win Against Connecticut Sun
Aliyah Boston recently took the Indiana Fever to a win against the Connecticut Sun over the weekend. The Fever managed to grab a 99-93 overtime win against the Sun with Kelsey Mitchell leading the team on the score with 38 points, while Odyssey Sims added another 19 points. Boston headed the team in rebounds with 13 boards in that game, with 14 points of her own.

The win makes the Indiana Fever third in the Eastern Conference with 19 wins, with the team ranking sixth overall in the WNBA. Next up, the Fever will be taking on the Minnesota Lynx in a couple of days in the first of a two-game series between the two teams.
The Indiana Fever was originally predicted to be among the top contenders for the WNBA championship before the current season kicked off. However, with their top performer, Caitlin Clark being injured twice, the team has been clearly struggling.
