Indiana Pacers have a huge point guard problem as their leader Tyrese Haliburton is set to miss the whole 2025-26 season after suffering an Achilles rupture in Game 7 of their NBA finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Andrew Nembhard is ready to step in.

Nembhard, the team’s second round pick from 2022, grew into an indispensable part of their roster, starting in all of the 65 games he played last season. He mostly played no. 2 as Haliburton was their main point guard.
With the two-time All-Star focusing on his recovery, Nembhard is preparing as early as now to take his spot. He used to play as point guard for the Florida Gators and Gonzaga Bulldogs, averaging 5.3 points in four seasons in college.
“I think every time I’m getting in the gym, I’m always trying to look at it holistically and work on my total game,” he said in an interview with Hoops Hype.

“So, I’ve always been kinda preparing for this moment and I’ve always grown up playing the one. So I’m getting back to playing the one this year, and I think that’s the biggest adjustment is just a different lens on the floor.”
Nembhard averaged 10 points and 5 assists per game in the last regular season.
Indiana Pacers’ PG rotation
Nembhard will be the starting point guard for the Pacers next season and next to him is TJ McConnell. He will be joined in the frontcourt by Benedict Mathurin.
Other guards in the rotation are Quenton Jackson, RayJ Dennis, and their 38th overall pick Kam Jones, a standout from the Marquette Golden Eagles.
Ben Sheppard and Aaron Nesmith might also see some guard plays.

The frontcourt will also see major changes as Myles Turner is no longer with the franchise after 10 years by joining rivals Milwaukee Bucks. In his place is Jay Huff who they acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Pascal Siakam will remain as the anchor of their offense with Obi Toppin serving as back up.
