Angel Reese talked about the most important game of her life, which featured Caitlin Clark standing against her. Both players have been put against one another on multiple occasions in college, and their rivalry has carried over to the professional level.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, Reese revealed the most important game of her career to be the 2023 NCAA National Championship game: her LSU Tigers vs. Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes. In the final minutes of the game, she famously taunted Clark, doing the “You can’t see me” hand gesture popularized by WWE superstar wrestler turned actor John Cena.
When asked about that moment, Reese proceeded to describe the relationship she’s had with Clark for several years, even sharing her wish to eventually team up with her rival.
“Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids. It’s just a full-circle moment of how women are viewed when it comes to trash-talking. It’s ok in men’s sports so we’re gonna normalize that in women’s sports as well,” said Reese.
“It’s just super competitive. I think we’re two great competitors. We brought a lot of fans to this league and I think we’re gonna continue to do that and one day, hopefully, we can be teammates,” the “Chi-Town Barbie” added.
Much like their clashes in college, the Clark-Reese matches in the WNBA garnered a lot of attention with plenty of fans tuning in on TV or watching them live to see them duke it out., causing a significant spike in viewership and gate attendance.

Last July, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark had the opportunity to team up as part of Team WNBA in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game at Footprint Center in Phoenix. They defeated Team USA that night, 117-109.
In an interview with the Indiana Fever star that month, she was asked how it feels to be teammates with the Chicago Sky rookie for the first time ever. Clark said that people would be excited to see the game.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been her teammate before, even with USA Basketball or anything like that. So, I know people are going to be really excited about it, but I hope it doesn’t take away from everybody else,” Clark said at the time. “This is a huge accomplishment for everybody on Team USA and everybody on Team WNBA. They all deserved the same praise.”

Following their All-Star duo, Angel Reese had expressed her desire to team up with Clark on Team USA. She and her fans as well as Clark’s will have to see if that dream will be a reality in four years’ time.
