Angel Reese didn’t wait long to walk back her words. After Chicago’s blowout win over the Sun on Wednesday night, she faced the music about the firestorm she created earlier in the week.

The two-time All-Star admitted she let her frustration spill out. In a Front Office Sports piece, Reese was quoted ripping into the roster, even questioning Tyler Marsh’s coaching approach. She hinted the Sky needed major changes — and if they didn’t come, she might look for a new home.
By the time the final buzzer sounded against Connecticut, her tone had shifted.
“I don’t think I’m frustrated with the team or the organization. I think I’m frustrated with myself,” Reese said. “I didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates… they showed up for me through thick and thin.”
Reese said she’s already apologized in the locker room. She admitted her words can carry the wrong weight if she’s not careful. “I just have to be better with my language. What I say can be taken any type of way and I want to grow from this.”
Still, the original interview raised eyebrows. She name-dropped Hailey Van Lith and Rachel Banham, saying they weren’t players who could lead a playoff push. She even cast doubt on whether Courtney Vandersloot could return to elite form after her ACL injury.
“That’s where we’ll leave it”: Coach Tyler Marsh reacts to Angel Reese’s remarks
That left Marsh in a tricky spot. The rookie head coach was asked about Reese’s comments before tip-off and didn’t dance around it.

“We’re aware of it,” Marsh said. “We’re addressing it in house as we’re currently speaking, so that’s where we’ll leave it.”
The Sky have reason to be tense. Reese may be the centerpiece, but the team hasn’t given her much support. Last year’s 13–27 finish was forgettable, and this season they sit at 10–30 with four games left.
Reese is only in her second year, yet the urgency is clear. The Sky wanted a franchise star, and now they have one who isn’t shy about demanding more. Whether her bluntness turns into leadership or sparks deeper issues inside the locker room — that’s the storyline to watch as Chicago limps to the finish line.
