“You’re The Only One Having A Bad Season”: Angel Reese Called Out By 5x All-Star For Controversial Comments On Sky Teammates

Angel Reese has been one of the most talked-about names in the WNBA this year, and not always for her play. The Chicago Sky rookie made waves when she spoke about her own struggles in the middle of a rough season, but her comments about teammates didn’t sit well with many around the league.

Five-time All-Star Angel McCoughtry went on the Gil’s Arena podcast and directly addressed the 22-year-old. “Here’s the main thing: You’re not the only one having a bad season,” McCoughtry said. “Your teammates are having a bad season too. … but they don’t have million-dollar endorsement deals.”

McCoughtry also reminded Reese that setbacks are part of the job. “Me, Diana, Sue, Seimone, Tamika, Maya Moore, we’ve all had losing seasons before,” she added. “That is what happens. You have to be patient.”

Angel Reese isn’t just facing tough lessons on the court. She is also being challenged by veterans who paved the way for her to even be in this position. McCoughtry’s words highlight a bigger point—WNBA stars before her dealt with losses without pointing fingers, and Reese will be expected to do the same if she wants to grow into a leader.

With the Sky fighting to stay relevant and Angel Reese learning the league’s politics as much as its play, this season is becoming an early test of how she handles both criticism and pressure.

Angel Reese Attracts Teams for Possible Trade Amid the Disappointments

The future of Angel Reese in Chicago could be decided sooner than expected.

According to NBACentral on X, “Multiple WNBA teams will pursue a trade for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese this offseason, sources told DallasHoopsJournal. Sky players, coaches and higher-ups are not happy with Reese after what she said to the Chicago Tribune, sources said. Chicago could attempt to trade Reese this offseason, sources said.”

The Chicago Sky could attempt to trade Angel Reese this summer, and she’s expected to draw interest from multiple teams 😳

The rookie forward has had a mixed debut season. Angel Reese brought energy and attention to the Sky, but her recent comments about teammates may have created a rift inside the locker room. That tension, combined with Chicago’s uneven results, has reportedly put the front office in a tough spot.

If the doors to the move gets opened by the Sky, Angel Reese could easily grab the opportunity to offer her services to the highest bidder or the best value. Despite the many things happening to her on and off the court, she is still hot commodity among the youngest stars.

What happens next could shape both Reese’s career and Chicago’s direction heading into 2026.
