Warriors Veteran Star Opens Up On Angel Reese Heckler Remark
Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green detailed an exchange with a courtside fan in New Orleans who repeatedly heckled him by invoking Angel Reese’s name, telling listeners on his podcast that the remarks crossed a line and became personally disrespectful.
Green said the interaction began lightheartedly after a missed putback attempt but escalated as the fan kept repeating the taunt, prompting Green to step forward and address him directly while arena security intervened to quiet the heckler.
I got what you were saying the first time. I knew exactly what you were talking about. It’s fine,” the 35-year-old added. “By the way, to use Angel Reese’s name as a negative connotation — I really don’t like that for the young queen, because she’s done what she’s done to become who she is. And so I really don’t like that in itself.”
More than the disrespect towards Reese, Green reiterated that it is offensive for him to be called a woman, seeing that he is a man with four children.
Green said he initially laughed off the first comment but grew concerned when the fan’s words turned into what he perceived as attacks on his character and masculinity, stressing that using a woman’s name as an insult bothered him both for himself and for Reese.
“But there also gets to a point where, as a man with four children — soon to be five — once you start to add the different fillers onto your ‘Angel Reese,’ at a certain point, now you’re disrespecting me as a man,” he stressed.
Angel Reese, so far, has not expressed a response to this issue.
