After a whirlwind couple of weeks filled with headlines about her comments on the Chicago Sky and the launch of her first signature shoe, Angel Reese was laying low. But her name surfaced again — this time tied to A’ja Wilson’s record-breaking MVP moment.
On Friday, Wilson received her historic fourth MVP trophy, becoming the only player in league history to do so. The presentation was made extra special when her boyfriend, Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo, personally surprised her with the award at the Aces’ practice facility.

Kevin Durant’s brother, Tony Durant, reacted to Bleacher Report’s post about the moment on Sunday, dropping a simple goat emoji — his way of calling Wilson one of the greatest ever to play the game.
The celebration could’ve ended there, but one Angel Reese supporter pulled Durant into an unrelated debate. The fan accused him of “hating” Reese and pressed him on who he believed was the real face of the WNBA: Caitlin Clark or Reese herself.
“Since you hate Reese, your own kind, so much, is she the face or CC?” the fan wrote.
Durant didn’t bite on the question. Instead, he fired back with a blunt response.
“I love my kind, go ask mines!!!! I don’t know you nor do I care what you talking about you answer your own question and go play in traffic somewhere,” Tony Durant replied.
“They love AR tho”: Angel Reese catching stray bullets from Kevin Durant’s brother
While the fan framed it as if Kevin Durant disliked Angel Reese, his track record on social media suggests otherwise. If anything, he’s been vocal about defending Caitlin Clark against critics.

Back in July, ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck drew backlash after saying Indiana might be “even more dangerous” when Clark wasn’t on the floor. The remark sparked outrage online, and Durant was one of the many to call it out.
“The hate they really got for this girl spews thru their f****** skin, it’s disgusting! And we all know why! They love AR tho!” he commented at the time.
Durant’s latest post may give the impression he sides with Clark over Reese, but it doesn’t suggest any hostility toward Reese herself — or toward “his own kind,” as one fan claimed. More likely, Durant was showing support for Clark while shutting down an unnecessary online argument.

For Reese, it was another reminder that even when she’s quiet, her name has a way of finding its way back into the conversation.
