Chicago Sky stars Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso got praise from their team’s GM for the maturity and dedication they exhibited during training for the new season ahead of them.

In an interview with the Chicago State of Mind Sports, Chicago Sky’s General Manager Jeff Pagliocca praised Angel Reese and Kamila Cardoso for standing out during their training camp for the 2025 season.

“Definitely a lot more maturity,” Pagliocca said. “A lot more relaxed understanding of the game, the pace of it, the flow. And it’s been two new coaching staffs, and you know, they both adjusted quickly again. Because you know, they come from winning programs in the past in college, and they’ve assimilated quickly.”

“But you know, they both had very good offseasons. Kamilla and China (women’s league), and Angel and Unrivaled (league). So, they’ve grown as players, they’re coming in in shape, and they’ve impacted the both camp days.”

Angel Reese, Kamila Cardoso Expected to Make an Impact For 2025 Season

Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso both entered the WNBA as rookies in 2024, joining the Chicago Sky and quickly making an impact. Reese, drafted seventh overall, averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, setting a single-season rebounding record for the Sky.

Cardoso, selected second overall, contributed 9.8 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, ranking second in the league behind Reese in rebounding. Their presence helped Chicago establish a dominant frontcourt, despite the team finishing with a 13-27 record in their rookie season.

Heading into their second year in 2025, Reese and Cardoso are expected to take a significant leap in their development. The Sky made key offseason moves, including hiring Tyler Marsh as head coach and acquiring Ariel Atkins to strengthen their roster.

Reese has focused on improving her scoring efficiency, while Cardoso has worked on expanding her offensive versatility, including developing a mid-range jumper. Their growth will be crucial as Chicago aims to return to playoff contention and build a competitive team around their young stars.

The duo’s chemistry will be tested early in the 2025 season, with Chicago facing tough matchups, including a highly anticipated game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

During the 2024 WNBA season, Angel Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, setting a single-season rebounding record for the franchise and finishing as one of the top rebounders in the league.
