Reports didn’t appear promising for Angel Reese’s return to the Rose BC this postseason as the young basketball star deals with an injury on the same wrist/hand that threatened her career in 2024.
Reese had to have surgery in September to repair her left wrist due to a bone crack. The injury shortened her rookie season. Per a video Reese posted on TikTok, there was a fear that the injury, if left untreated, would shorten her WNBA career.
Angel Reese had surgery in September

“Basically, the doctors told me that I could either not get surgery or have surgery,” Reese said. “The risk of not having surgery, I could literally have arthritis at 22 years old. That wasn’t an option. The bone could literally crack and completely shatter. Right now, it’s like a hairline…
“Long term, I literally could have not played anymore because this is a very hard place to heal because the blood flow is little to none.”

Per Kendra Andrews of ESPN, Reese was ruled out of the Rose’s semifinal matchup on Sunday due to an injury she suffered during the final game of the regular season in the Unrivaled league.
Reese was seen grabbing at the same wrist she previously had surgery on, adding another concerning wrist injury to her short professional career.
“Angel Reese is OUT of tomorrow’s semifinals game due to a hand injury she sustained in the final game of the regular season, per Unrivaled,” Andrews posted on X. “She could be seen grabbing at her left wrist in the third quarter before exiting the game — the same wrist she had surgery on in September.”
Fans on social media pray for the Chicago Sky star

Fans on social media appeared concerned for Reese’s well-being and prayed for a speedy recovery.
‘Hopefully it’s not serious and it’s just precautionary. The W season is around the corner and we need her. And hopefully the rose still do well tomorrow,” wrote a fan.
“Hope it’s just precautionary! We need her healthy for the W,” posted another.
“I pray she overcomes that injury because she’s a defensive titan,” commented a fan.
“AR goes through it man. One of her Maryland season ended in injury. Senior college year she had ankle injury. Rookie WNBA left hand injury and now in Unrivaled 1st season ends with an injury. I pray that injury plague AR has leaves her alone for the rest of her career,” wrote another.
“Nightmare,” suggested a fan.
