Angel Reese Shows Respect For New York Liberty’s ‘X-Factor’ In WNBA Finals Game 5

Just like most basketball fans, Chicago Sky star forward Angel Reese watched Game 5 of the 2024 WNBA Finals between the New York Liberty and the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.

The Liberty were on the verge of losing Game 5  to the Lynx. Down by two points with just seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Liberty managed to force overtime thanks to a pair of clutch free throws from Breanna Stewart. New York then took over in OT to capture the franchise’s first-ever WNBA title via a 67-62 score.

But there were other New York players who had huge roles in the team’s title-clinching victory at Barclays Center. Apart from Stewart, who had a double-double production of 13 points and 15 rebounds, Jonquel Jones had a big game as well, as she came through for the Liberty with a team-high 17 points along with six rebounds.

Angel Reese also shared her thoughts on a Liberty X-factor.

“SABALLY IS THE X FACTOR!!!” the former LSU Tigers wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Reese was referring to Nyara Sabally, who came off the bench and supplied New York with a hefty scoring production of 13 points on an efficient 5-for-7 shooting from the floor.

The Liberty needed those points from Sabally, especially with star guard Sabrina Ionescu misfiring from the floor all game long. Ionescu scored just five points while shooting an incredibly salty 1-for-19 from the field.

As for Reese, Liberty’s run can serve as an inspiration for her, as she looks to help the Sky take a big step forward in the 2025 WNBA season.
