The Chicago Sky came into 2025–26 hoping Angel Reese’s rookie spark would carry over. Instead, the season spiraled. Four straight losses have dropped them to 9-30, second-worst in the league, and the playoffs are off the table.

Reese has never been shy, and this week she let out some frustration. Talking to Julie Poe of the Chicago Tribune, she made it clear that she expects major changes.
“I’m not settling for the same s*** we did this year,” Reese said. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a non-negotiable for me.”
She also hinted she’s willing to help with recruiting.
“I’m willing and wanting to play with the best,” Reese added. “And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do. … We can’t settle for what we have this year.”
The 22-year-old forward even admitted her future could be tied to how serious the Sky are about building.
“I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.”

Reese is locked into a four-year deal, so the only path out would be a trade or waiting for free agency.
“The language is taken out of context”: Angel Reese apologizes to teammates after her rant against the Sky
Hours after the interview, the Sky beat the Connecticut Sun 88-64. In the postgame presser, Angel Reese walked back the sting of her earlier words, saying she wasn’t trying to knock teammates.
“I probably am frustrated [with] myself right now,” she explained. “I really didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates, because they’ve been through this with me throughout the whole year. They’ve busted their ass, just like I’ve busted my ass. … I just have to be better with my language.”
Reese stressed that the message wasn’t wrong, but she needs to be sharper as the “messenger.”

For Chicago, it’s another season ending early. For Reese, the clock may already be ticking on how long she’s willing to wait for a roster that matches her ambitions.
