Angel Reese’s frustrations with the Chicago Sky spilled into headlines this week. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, the two-time All-Star hinted that if the franchise doesn’t overhaul the roster around her and Kamilla Cardoso, she might “move in a different direction.”

Angel Reese even said she’d help recruit talent herself, adding that Chicago needs to land “great players” to compete for a championship. The comments caught enough attention that, according to Front Office Sports, the Sky held a team meeting to address them directly.
Potential trade scenarios have already started swirling. The Connecticut Sun could put together a package centered on rookie Aneesah Morrow, who once succeeded Reese at LSU, while Washington might look to pair her with breakout forward Kiki Iriafen. Dallas is also viewed as a possible landing spot, with executives seeing Reese as a “third or fourth option” who could thrive alongside Paige Bueckers while shoring up the Wings’ rebounding.

“I Think I’m Frustrated With Myself”: Angel Reese Backtracks And Apologizes To Sky Teammates Over Harsh Remarks
But after Chicago’s 88-64 win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, Angel Reese walked back her words. She admitted her tone crossed a line and clarified that she wasn’t trying to discredit her teammates.
“I probably am frustrated [with] myself right now,” Reese told reporters. “I didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates…they’ve showed up for me through thick and thin. I want to apologize to my teammates, I already have.”

She added that her comments were more about personal accountability than the roster itself: “I just have to be better with my language. Because I know it’s not the message, it’s the messenger. What I say can be taken any kind of way, and I want to grow from this.”
Despite her apology, Reese didn’t shy away from naming Hailey Van Lith, Rachel Banham, and even veteran guard Courtney Vandersloot in her earlier criticism — questioning whether they can lead the Sky deep into the postseason.

For now, Chicago is out of playoff contention, and Reese’s future remains unsettled. Whether the Sky retool around her or consider moving their star forward, her comments made one thing clear: patience won’t last forever.
