Angel Reese is super excited with her team, Chicago Sky, picking LSU Tigers’ Hailey Van Lith in the WNBA draft. Reese played with Lith in the LSU Tigers during her time with the university team and seems to be more than happy to recreate history with the rookie.

Hailey Van Lith split her college basketball career between three teams, starting with the Louisville Cardinals from 2020 to 2023, then the LSU Tigers from 2023 to 2024 and then the TCU Horned Frogs in the last season. Lith was selected by the Chicago Sky as the 11th overall pick in the very first round of the WNBA draft.

“We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkkk” Angel Reese tweeted from her X account, showing her delight with Hailey Van Lith joining her team.

In her senior year, Lith played with the TCU Horned Frogs and made it to the Elite Eight round against the Texas Longhorns. However, the team was unable to proceed to the Final Four after losing to Texas with a 58-47 score. In that game, Lith was the lead scorer for TCU with 17 points, grabbing eight rebounds and assisting twice.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese played with the LSU Tigers from 2022 to 2024 before being selected by the Chicago Sky as the seventh overall pick in the first round of the WNBA draft. Reese has been training hard for the upcoming WNBA season and will hope to give the team a better record than the 2024 WNBA season. The Chicago Sky will play their very first game of the season next month against Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever.

Angel Reese Showered With Praise By Hailey Van Lith After Joining Chicago Sky

Angel Reese was not the only one who was elated with her former LSU Tigers teammate joining her at Chicago Sky. After she was selected by the Sky for her WNBA debut, Hailey Van Lith spoke to reporters about how excited she was to play with Reese by her side.

“Angel has maintained contact with me… I really appreciate her. We have a very mature relationship… a mutual respect relationship…mostly I’m excited to be around her again. We have a lot of similarities on how we carry ourselves… she’s a dog. She turns up the intensity of everybody around her.” Hailey Van Lith said about Angel Reese to reporters.

LSU’s Angel Reese (10) and teammates try to calm Hailey Van Lith (11) after a foul was called against Lith during an NCAA college basketball game against Tennessee on Sunday, February 25, 2024, in Knoxville, Tenn. (If I remember correctly, the Lady Vols and LSU game was really physical and the game was filled with moments like this where players, both Tennessee and LSU, were trying to keep cool. I felt this was a subtly way to show how competitive their game was.)

Hailey Van Lith will be eager to show off her hooper skills with the Chicago Sky as a WNBA rookie. In her senior year with the TCU Horned Frogs, Lith managed a 15.2-point average per game, grabbing 4.1 rebounds and assisting 3.4 times in every matchup.
