Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis has suffered another injury in the 2025-26 NBA season, ruling him out for at least six weeks. Due to a hand injury, Davis was forced to exit the Utah Jazz game late on Thursday. Fortunately for the Mavericks, rookie forward Cooper Flagg stepped up and had 26 points and 10 rebounds to keep it competitive. However, Dallas had a tough loss, 116-114.
Further examination revealed that Davis would miss some time due to an injury to his left hand ligament. If he had surgery, it was anticipated that he would be absent for several months. However, he doesn’t require surgery, according to a visit to Dr. Steven Shin in Los Angeles on Tuesday.
Due to various injuries, the big man has been limited to just 20 games. During that stretch, AD has averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks.

In the Wednesday episode of “Gil’s Arena,” former star Gilbert Arenas expressed frustration at Davis’ numerous injuries. The three-time All-NBA player roasted the Mavericks star.
“Can we figure out what that s**t they put in Wolverine? Because at this point, that’s the only thing that’s gonna keep him on the court,” Arenas said.

“I’ve never seen the knick-knack injuries to one player like this in my life.”
Anthony Davis has always dealt with various injuries throughout his career. It’s nothing new to him. However, it has affected how fans and critics view him as a star player. It has hindered him from being a consistent part of the team.
Things have gotten worse for Davis since getting traded to Dallas. He appeared in 42 games with the Lakers before that, and only played nine games for the Mavericks following the blockbuster trade.
Rich Paul reportedly wants Anthony Davis to be traded by the Mavericks before the deadline

Rich Paul, Anthony Davis’ agent, wants a deal to be reached before the February 5 deadline, according to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. The league insider talked about it on Wednesday’s episode of “The Hoop Collective,” saying that Paul wants AD to be with a team that is willing to give him a contract extension.
“And why would he want that? Because he believes it’s in his best business interest,” MacMahon said. “Because he has taken a ‘We’ll see’ from the Mavericks regarding an extension as a ‘no’. And there are teams where clearly Rich Paul considers it likely that AD would get the kind of extension that he’s looking for when he becomes eligible in August.”
Davis is in the first year of his three-year, $175.3 million contract. He will be up for an extension this summer, but his injuries could hinder teams from offering him such a deal.
