Recent unrest across the state of Minnesota has placed Minneapolis at the center of national attention after two deadly incidents shocked the country. The latest shooting, involving an ICU nurse named Alex Pretti, had ripple effects beyond the community and even disrupted the NBA schedule. As a result, the game between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors was postponed before the two teams finally met on Monday.
When play resumed, the Warriors dominated the Wolves, securing a 111–85 victory. Following the loss, Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards addressed the team’s recent lack of energy and effort against Golden State.
“We’re supposed to come out here and play hard,” Edwards said. “I don’t think we can make an excuse because we’re tired. Everybody tired, everybody ready to go to the break. But we’re just getting outplayed on the effort part. So we gotta bring it on that side, for sure.”
“This sh*t hurt, man. To start, we had no offensive organization, and on the defense we were ass. This is easily the worst game we had all year, f**king disgraceful and annoying.”

The Timberwolves have now dropped five straight games, while Stephen Curry improved to 5–0 in his last five matchups against Edwards. Despite the loss, Edwards delivered another standout outing. He finished with 32 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, shooting 13-of-20 from the field and 4-of-7 from three-point range in 34 minutes.
Anthony Edwards and Stephen Curry React to Minneapolis Tragedy
Edwards also took time to address the recent shooting in Minnesota and offered a heartfelt message to the city of Minneapolis.
“I just love Minnesota, all the love and support that they show me,” Edwards said. “So I’m behind whatever they with. I don’t really have social media, so I’m not in tune with everything. But I’ve heard about the stuff that’s going on. Me and my family definitely praying for everybody.”
Stephen Curry also shared his honest take on the emotional weight surrounding the situation and reflected on what the Warriors experienced upon arriving in the city.
“It’s been rough out here,” Curry said in the post-game press conference. “You could kind of feel it when we got here two days ago, with the protests that were going on downtown. It was amazing to watch the peaceful protest and the unified voice that was here. You feel like that could have turned the tide to a more positive direction, then you wake up in the morning and see what happened.”
Pretti was reportedly shot and killed by federal agents. He was an intensive care unit nurse. His death marked the second fatal incident of its kind this month, following the killing of Renee Macklin Good by an ICE agent.
