Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was one of the players who set the tone at the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. He followed what San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama did in the first game and put on a competitive show for the fans through three games. He finished with 32 points in 26 minutes and won the Kia All-Star Game MVP.
After the game, Edwards offered some strong words about Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic and Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic. Both stars played only 5:05 minutes in the first game and did not return to the court. Doncic is suffering from a hamstring strain, and Jokic is recovering from a hyperextended knee.
“No shade towards Luka (Doncic) and (Nikola) Jokic,” Edwards said. “But they two of the best players in the league, they not tryna play in the All-Star Game.”

After that hot take from Anthony Edwards, it sparked a fan frenzy online.
“He wants the smoke,” a fan said.
“That’s a humble way to put it coming from the next MJ 😉” another fan commented.
“That’s weird i believe I saw KD specifically name drop Luka and Jokic in an interview too,” one fan said.
“More people need to say this. Luka and Jokic completely phone it in during the ASG,” someone commented.
“Gotta play with honor man. Ant understands it. 🫡” a comment read.
“Ant gon say his mind and if you don’t like it he gon dunk on you 😭” one fan commented.
Anthony Edwards’ honest thoughts on the new All-Star Game format
To get stars to compete, the NBA has experimented with many formats. While it has been ineffective over the past few seasons, this year’s format with three teams brought out the best in the star players.
After the event, Anthony Edwards revealed his honest thoughts on the format.
“I know they ain’t gon’ really take in what I’m saying, but I like this format. I think it makes us compete, ‘cause it’s only 12 minutes. There different teams, you separate the guys. I think it was really good,” Edwards said.
