During the Minnesota Timberwolves opening match against the Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Edwards made a heated taunt on Jarred Vanderbilt, one of his opponent’s bench players. Vanderbilt, healing from his foot injury, had never escaped from Edwards’ provocative snares.
Vanderbilt remains sidelined due to offseason procedures for his injury. Anthony Edwards noticed the Lakers’ power forward remained on the bench watching the game, and the Timberwolves star didn’t hesitate to provoke him by taunting him about his persisting injuries.
X/Twitter page @TheDunkCentral captured Edwards’ poking:
“You’ve been hurt for 2 years n***a,” Edwards said to Vanderbilt.

The match against the Timberwolves and the Lakers saw Edwards’ team deal their first loss of the season. Despite achieving 27 points and six rebounds, the former Georgia Bulldogs failed to contain the heated play of his opponent, Anthony Davis, who made 36 points and 16 rebounds.

Anthony Edwards clashes with Lakers big man
Other than taunting Jarred Vanderbilt, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards also sneered at his Lakers opponent and former teammate at Team USA, Anthony Davis. Despite this confrontation, Davis ensured that Edwards’ provocations weren’t that very insulting for him.
The intense match between the Timberwolves and the Lakers saw both Edwards and Davis leading their team to get the win. The two notably clashed when the “Ant” fouled the “AD,” but the latter managed to shoot the ball and make an additional free throw.
However, Davis clarified that he doesn’t have nasty feelings towards Edwards. The Lakers big man said he has a good relationship with the Timberwolves star from being part of Team USA’s roster last Olympics.

Anthony Edwards reacts to criticisms of his controversial statement
Last summer, Anthony Edwards caught the anger of many people after claiming that NBA legend Michael Jordan was the only “best” player during his era. While in an interview with ESPN’s Jamal Collier, Edwards finally responded to the criticisms he got from his statement.
When Collier brought up Edwards’ particular issue months ago, the Timberwolves star replied that players who criticized his controversial view, such as Kevin Garnett, could play in any era. He even said today’s NBA players could succeed against the previous generations.
NFL player Justin Jefferson, also being interviewed by Collier, then asked Edwards how he would fare if he were in Jordan’s generation. The two-time NBA All-Star then replied:
“I would’ve been the guy that could match up with MJ. That would have been me. I would’ve been that guy that would’ve been guarding him, scoring back on him. I would’ve been that guy.”
Anthony Edwards and Jefferson were featured in the latest sports magazine by ESPN, featuring an iconic Minnesota jersey swap reminiscent of Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss in 2000.
