The Philadelphia 76ers finally had their Big 3 back and they are playing at home. That means the game against the Atlanta Hawks should be winnable. That’s not what happened. Why? Jalen Johnson happened.
Johnson scored his career high of 41 points in the game and added 14 rebounds, 7 assists, one block, and one steal to lead his team to a victory over the much favored Sixers which had Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid who returned from a nine-game absence.

The 2021 21st overall pick played above 45 minutes to pull off the win, the most by any player on the team. He had Nickeil Alexander-Walker to support him as the guard scored 38 points and has the highest plus/minus between both teams.

Hawks survived another explosive game from MVP candidate Tyrese Maxey who played for 52 minutes and finished with 44 points.
Johnson had everyone talking after his career high, which is almost double of his current average of 22.9.

I love Jalen Johnson. He’s so good. He was a beast last night with 41 points, including two big triples in the second OT, and 14 boards. He had seven assists too. I loved how he paused and adjusted the angle here to drop this dime on Dyson Daniels to open the game for Atlanta: pic.twitter.com/DTmXdztpOE

Without Trae Young, Jalen Johnson has looked like a superstar. In his last 10 games, 25.4 PPG, 11 RPG, 9.1 APG. He’s maintained his scoring efficiency as a #1 option, still being a monster in transition with development as a shot maker, while also being an elite playmaker

His last statline also puts him together with NBA legends.

Jalen Johnson on Atlanta Hawks’ great road record
Johnson and Alexander-Walker are balling. They are huge reasons behind Hawks’ current run even if they are without their star Trae Young who is still dealing with knee injury.
They are exceeding expectations. The more amazing part about this is that they are playing better on the road than at home. They are currently 9-4 on away games and 4-4 at the State Farm Arena.
Their road wins include huge wins over Sacramento Kings and 20-point comeback victory over the Phoenix Suns. How are they doing it? Johnson thinks it is because of the togetherness that they built.

Jalen Johnson to Matt Winer on why the Atlanta Hawks are seeing so much success on the road (9-4 away):
“‘Cause we’re together. We work together, we spend so much time together, especially with our schedule these past couple weeks.” pic.twitter.com/vRlhWvznx6

The road trip will get a little tougher as they will take on the Detroit Pistons next at the Little Caesars Arena. Pistons are the best team in the Eastern Conference and second best overall with a 16-4 record.
