Trae Young era is done in the Atlanta Hawks as the franchise decided to move on from him by trading him to the Washington Wizards. This development has been brewing since start of the season and the conversation just got louder after the Hawks struggled with him in the line up.

Shams Charania reported that Atlanta got two players for the three-time All-Star. He added that Washington was Young’s preferred destination.
BREAKING: The Atlanta Hawks are trading four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN.
The trade ends Young’s stint as the face of the Hawks and sends the 27-year-old to his preferred destination in the nation’s capital. Top Wizards officials Michael Winger and Will Dawkins have searched to anchor their young talent in the next step of the team’s development.
The trade was announced while the Hawks were playing the New Orleans Pelicans and Young’s body language says he knew it all along. Young did not play in the game.

Young was drafted fifth overall in 2018 by the Hawks. He led the the team to an Eastern Conference finals in 2021. He will go down as one of the best players in the franchise.
Trae Young leaves the Hawks as the all-time franchise leader in assists (4,837) and 3-PT FG (1,295).

Atlanta Hawks lost the Trae Young trade
The Wizards are being commended for the trade they pulled. They started with Bradley Beal who might not return to his top form again and now, they have Young who can still be in his prime once he’s healthy.
The Wizards started with Bradley Beal, traded him for CP3 + six seconds + four swaps, traded CP3 for Jordan Poole + a 2030 first-round pick, dumped Poole’s salary for CJ McCollum, then traded McCollum’s expiring salary for Trae Young.
I’d say that’s pretty good asset management. pic.twitter.com/VxYXn8zkof

As for the Hawks, their immediate grade is not that good. People think not even getting a first rounder for a decorated player like Young is a failure.
obsessed with how trae young’s camp navigated this trade.
(atlanta clearly ready to move trae)
“trae is open to being traded”(they test the market)
“trae is interested in going to wolves or nets”(only interested suitor is wizards)
