Trae Young recently took exception to Patrick Beverley’s remarks about not being a good leader and teammate. The Atlanta Hawks star castigated the former NBA journeyman in his podcast.

“You talk about (being) a winner? What have you won? Tell me, what have you won? And don’t respond with that sympathy, ‘I won in life, I won in basketball.’ Because you didn’t, man,” Young said.
“We don’t even gonna talk about how we celebrate play-in wins. I won play-in games on the road and I’m ready to get to the playoffs. You win play-in games at home and stand on the scorers’ table acting like it’s a championship,” he added.

Young made it to his fourth NBA All-Star team last season after averaging 24.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 11.6 assists, and 1.2 steals on 41.1 percent shooting from the field across 76 regular season games. With him leading the way, the Atlanta Hawks finished eighth in the East with a 40-42 record, but failed to qualify for the postseason.
Trae Young is not a good leader for the Atlanta Hawks, claims Patrick Beverley
Before Trae Young’s rebuttal, Patrick Beverley called out players for their supposed lack of effort in All-Star Games. The Atlanta Hawks guard reacted by telling Beverley to “relax” since he’s never made an All-Star team in his NBA career.

“I don’t think he’s won enough to even speak to me… He’s been to the playoffs three times. I’ve been to the playoffs nine. My first seven years, I didn’t miss the playoffs at all. I’ve talked to people who played in Atlanta. They don’t wanna play there. Why? They don’t think he’s a good leader. They don’t think he’s a good teammate,” Beverley said about Young.
“You can make all the money you want. You can have all the leading assists you want. You can do all that. If you don’t win, that sh*t won’t matter. If you don’t win, when you retire they’re gonna forget your name,” he added.
