Kendrick Perkins stirred conversation this week after comparing Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders to former President Barack Obama — and Shedeur’s mother, Pilar, quickly showed her approval.
On Tuesday’s episode of the “LGND TLK” podcast, Perkins said Sanders carries the kind of presence he once associated with Obama. Pilar reposted the clip on Instagram Story, adding a string of love emojis.

“Shedeur Sanders is the most powerful black man since 2009,” Perkins said. “You know what happened in 2009? That’s when President Obama got elected to office. He’s the most powerful black man since 2009.”

He added:
“He’s the most powerful black man in sports. Matter fact f*** black men, he’s the most powerful player in sports. When Shedeur Sanders is on the field, that is the only time that I see Black people come together as one, drop all the swords. It’s no Black people beefing on nothing across. Everybody roots for Shedeur Sanders.”
Sanders has played in just two NFL games, throwing for more than 200 yards and a touchdown in his most recent appearance. Drafted in the fifth round this year, he’s already under the spotlight, and Perkins’ comments have raised expectations for a bigger role as the season continues.
Barack Obama meets Eliud Kipchoge to discuss sport’s impact
While Shedeur Sanders appears to be reshaping the American Football landscape according to Kendrick Perkins’ hot take, Former US President Barack Obama has met with two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge, as they discussed the transformative power of sport.
Fresh from competing in his first New York Marathon earlier this month, Kipchoge and Obama had a meeting in Washington, where the Olympian shared his commitment to inspiring and empowering the next generation through sports, education, and leadership with Obama.

In a statement released by Kipchoge’s management, Global Sports Communications, Kipchoge said he has deep admiration for Obama, describing the former president as a global advocate for unity, who has remained humble and disciplined throughout his career.
“Our conversation was one of reflection and shared purpose about leadership, legacy, and how the next generation can rise through sport, education and service,” Kipchoge said. “We share a vision of hope and possibility, believing that through partnership, we can create meaningful change.”
On the other hand, Obama thanked Kiphchoge on his Instagram account. “Thanks for those kind words. It was great meeting you, Eliud!” Obama wrote.
