Sometimes, when the going gets tough and your day-to-day feels like a cycle that’s a drag, a change of scenery, a look at greener pastures and a redirection could do the trick, Thanks to Ben Simmons, fans are talking again, and this time it has nothing to do with his game on the court. On Sunday, the Brooklyn Nets guard posted on social media with the caption:

“The land down under #australia.”

Of course, as the ever-sharp eye of the people sees things, they also tend to put their own analysis and opinions on the matter. So this post got the hive busy. From the NBA to perhaps the AFL? Australian football could be what’s next.
Injuries, criticism, and a lack of effective performance. Ben Simmons has faced a tough few years in the NBA. With all that in his head, and with what fans can see, maybe a move outside of the comfort zone isn’t such a bad idea. And with his athletic stature and experience in Australian Football back home, it’s also not an impossibility.
That being said, it’s also highly plausible that the fans are just reading into this too much. For all we know, it could just be a nod to his roots.
We can’t blame him for wanting to move on, but we equally can’t blame him if he chooses to weather the storm. If nothing else, Ben Simmons has once again shown his knack for keeping fans guessing.
Patrick Beverley thinks Ben Simmons would’ve thrived
Patrick Beverley has shared his view on why Ben Simmons’ career path may have looked different if he had started in another city. Speaking on the Pat Bev Pod, Beverley said: “If he would’ve went to another team, and you know, Philly fans, I love them, but if you ain’t doing what you need to do, they gonna let you know in a heartbeat. If he would’ve went to a Charlotte to start, without all the harsh backlash he got from fans, media and all that, he probably would’ve had a three.”

Beverley’s comments underline the weight of pressure that came with Simmons’ early years in Philadelphia. The expectations were high, and every shortcoming became magnified under the spotlight.
His take suggests that in a smaller market, Simmons might have been able to build confidence without the noise. Whether that would have led to more growth is impossible to know, but it keeps the conversation about Ben Simmons alive long after his struggles in Philly.
