Bennedict Mathurin impressed Los Angeles Lakers fans in his second game with them after he scored 16 points in their win over the Houston Rockets before the All-Star Wekend. He did it by continuously attacking the defense, leading to 10 free throws. He made nine of those.

He did that despite the limited practice he’s had with them. He moved to the Clippers on Feb. 5 in exchange for long-time Clipper Ivica Zubac and Kobe Brown. LA also got Isaiah Jackson, two first-round picks, and one second-round pick for the swap.
The squad returned after the All-Star break and Mathurin expressed optimism about his new team. He thinks coach Ty Lue knows what he is capable of.
“I just feel like Ty Lue is going to give me the chance to really go out there and play my game without any restrictions,” he said when asked about his expectations.

“So, I think that’s the biggest, that’s the biggest jump is going to be for me, especially playing with with great players like Kawhi and [Darius Garland] and the rest of the guys on the team, which is going to allow me to short even more.”
The Clippers are gearing up for a strong run with 24 games to go. Another major move from them was swapping James Harden for Darius Garland.
Bennedict Mathurin is on a mission
Mathurin is a fixture for the Pacers squad, especially during their 2025 Finals run where he averaged 11 points per game.
He always produces for his former team but he believes there’s more he can do. He thinks he can get to a higher level with the Clippers.

“I just feel like I kind of get the chance to do it even more over here,” Mathurin said.
“I think it is going to go to a different level.”
The 22-year-old played 28 games for the Pacers before getting traded. He averaged 17.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 31 minutes per game.
