The Boston Celtics of 2022-2024 era is different from the one entering the new season personnel-wise. The expectations are different based on recent statements made by president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.

The team was forced to unload core members of their title winning team in 2024 and so, they no longer have the likes of Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday. Al Horford is also a free agent and rumors have that he will sign with the Golden State Warriors.
The biggest blow of all is the injury to Jayson Tatum who will likely be out for the whole season although he is progressing well.
Stevens said the season will be about figuring things out for now.
“We’re looking at it from the standpoint of again let’s see what this team looks like. Let’s put our very best foot forward,” he said via CLNS Media.
“Let’s let Joe, the staff, the players, let’s all work to maximize ourselves and with an attitude of no ceilings and no limitations and go after it.”

New names on the team are Anfernee Simons and Chris Boucher. Holdovers are led by Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Sam Hauser, Neemias Queta, and Peyton Pritchard.
Boston Celtics’ ultimate goal is to have Jayson Tatum back
Tatum had an Achilles tendon rupture in their last game in the second round of the Eastern Conference semis with the New York Knicks. He already underwent surgery to revive it and will be out the whole season.
His absence means Celtics lost his 26.8 points per game. Stevens said suggested that they are not going to rush things. That may also mean they will no force JT to heal fast. His full recovery is no. 1 to no. 4 on his list.

“My number one goal, my number two goal, three goal, four goal, is Jason Tatum fully healthy. Full recovery,” he said adding that the player has been very hard at work to recover.
“And he’s well on his way. He has been incredibly diligent.”
