Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown received a Flagrant 1 foul call after popping Onyeka Okongwu on the mouth during the third period of their 117-106 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday evening.
Okongwu managed to shoot the ensuing free throws with a bloody mouth and teeth. After the game, Brown addressed the incident by sending his well wishes for the Atlanta Hawks center.
“I know from my own experiences with a fractured face and chipped teeth that shit is a hassle. So, it wasn’t intentional,” Brown said via Daniel Donabedian of ClutchPoints. “I know it’s gonna be a long day at the dentist. Hopefully, he has a good recovery.”
The Boston Celtics fell to third place in the Eastern Conference after losing at home, as the New York Knicks took care of the Toronto Raptors on the same day. Brown finished as the team’s leading scorer with 21 points, seven rebounds, and three assists on 9-for-20 shooting from the field across 29 minutes of action.

Boston Celtics News: Sam Hauser addresses Jayson Tatum’s potential on-court return
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Jayson Tatum hasn’t made a final decision about whether he’ll return for the Boston Celtics this season, as he’s still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. After last night’s game, Sam Hauser shared his thoughts on the possibility.
“If he is going to return, we’ll welcome him with open arms, for sure. He’s such a great player. Any time you can have the luxury of adding a player like that to your rotation, it’s pretty exciting,” Hauser stated via Justin Turpin of WEEI.
However, according to Chris Haynes of NBA on Prime, Tatum is leaning toward sitting out the entire 2025-26 season, as the Boston Celtics star is being cautious, which sounds right, considering the severity of his injury.
