Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown sounded off on the team’s frustrating finish in their opening game defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers (117-116). According to Brown, he was supposed to get the ball to try to win the game as the first option.

Instead, the ball went to Payton Pritchard twice, and the Boston Celtics guard missed his game-winning attempts. After the game, Brown stated that they will use this as motivation and a learning experience for the next game.
“It’s tough. Definitely a winnable game for us. You know, we had some opportunities. Even at the end, we had some opportunities. It didn’t go our way. It’s a learning experience,” Brown lamented via ClutchPoints’ Daniel Donabedian.

“We got a new group that’s still figuring things out. Some of these other teams have played together for a little bit more, so there’s going to be some ups and downs. But I’m looking forward to just learning every day with the group. And I’m looking forward to when we get to that point where we catch our wind, and what that could possibly be,” he added.
Boston Celtics News: Derrick White doubles down on Jaylen Brown’s postgame comments
During the postgame press conference, Derrick White confirmed that Jaylen Brown was supposed to get the ball late, but this played into the Philadelphia 76ers’ hands.

“I mean, we were trying to get it to (Brown),” White stated. “They did a good job of denying him. “(Pritchard) came to the ball, and we obviously trust P in those situations a lot. So, I wouldn’t change much.”
White and Brown were the team’s top scorers with 25 points each. Neemias Queta, Payton Pritchard, and newcomer Anfernee Simons added 17, 16, and 13 points, respectively, in the one-point loss.
