Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown feels that he deserved to win the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award for December 2025 over New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, as he was playing the best basketball of his career at the time.
Last month, Brown averaged 31.7 points while shooting almost 54 percent from the field. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP scored under 30 points in just one game in that span and was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week twice.
“No disrespect, no diss to Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) or Brunson,” Brown said during a Twitch livestream. “But neither one of them had a better month than I had. But it’s all good, those are great players.”
With Brown playing out of his mind, the Boston Celtics went 9-3 last month. The 29-year-old has six Eastern Conference Player of the Week awards in his career, but has never won the Player of the Month honor.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla also won the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month award for December 2025 for being the mastermind behind the team’s 9-3 run last month. He has now won the prestigious individual recognition five times in his four years at the helm.
In December, the Boston Celtics were atop the East in win percentage (.750), field goal percentage (49.3 percent), net rating (11.0), and true shooting percentage (61.4 percent) while ranking second in three-pointers made per game (15.9), third in blocks per game (5.5), third in offensive rebounding percentage (32.9 percent), and fourth in defensive rating (113.3).
Boston is on a two-game winning streak, following their 120-109 road win against the Sacramento Kings to open the new calendar year. They will conclude their five-game road trip with a marquee matchup against the red-hot Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday evening.
