Everyone quietly understands that the Boston Celtics are favorites to win this year’s NBA Finals.
Bookies have them as over the Dallas Mavericks. Even former players rave about the team’s chances after their impressive playoff performances.
The quality of the team’s roster is one of the biggest reasons behind the team’s success. While the team’s role players play a huge part in the disparity between the two rosters, the superstar duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown play a huge role in the team’s status as favorites.
It’s clear to everyone that the two stars need to be in sync if the Celtics are going to win their 18th championship banner. However, rumors of tension between the two squads may put the C’s championship hopes in doubt.
The team’s head coach put any rumors to rest by addressing the real situation between its two superstars.
Joe Mazzulla dismisses any conflict between Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown
Joe Mazzulla fielded questions that allege the two having a conflict that isn’t dissimilar to the one Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal had during their run on the Los Angeles Lakers.
He quickly shot down any questions that made the wild claim, as reported by Fadeaway World’s Aaditya Krishnamurthy:
“It’s a really good question… The whole thing about that really pisses me off and I think it’s unfair to both of them. I think it’s stupid that people have to use those two guys’ names… so they can remain relevant. It’s very unfair those two get compared. They’re two completely different people, completely different players, completely different teammates, they love each other, and they go about winning and they go about their process in a different way.”
Tatum and Brown are doing an incredible job for the Celtics this postseason. They lead the team in scoring as well as holding together Mazzulla’s defensive schemes. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the team wouldn’t be complete with either one of them missing.
While fans don’t really know what their relationship is like behind the cameras, everyone can agree that the two superstars are working well enough that the Celtics have a real shot at winning the Larry O’Brien trophy by the end of June.
