Boston Celtics Keep Quality Big Man to Make Big Contributions to 2025 TItle Defense

To say that the Boston Celtics had quite a cruise into the NBA championship is an appropriate explanation for what the entire NBA world just saw from one of the most storied franchises in league history.

No one could effectively contain Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, which led to the former winning his first MVP and silencing his loudest critics. Derrick White and Jrue Holiday proved to be invaluable to the C’s conquest. Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford proved to be a nightmare for the Dallas Mavericks and the rest of the East.

However, they weren’t the only ones who brought Banner #18 to New England. The team’s role players contributed to the Celtics’ unstoppable postseason. From Sam Hauser to Jordan Walsh, every player in the Celtics roster played a role in helping the C’s win their first title in the Tatum-Brown era.

One of these players who made strides as a fringe player on the Celtics was rewarded for his efforts with fresh terms.

Neemias Queta isn’t a name that stands out among NBA fans, but those who closely watched the Celtics know the value the Portuguese center brings to the team.

Brian Robb of masslive.com reported that the Celtics kept Queta on the roster to provide a solid interior presence while either Horford or KP are on the bench for Joe Muzzalla:

The Celtics turned down a team option for Queta on Saturday, making him a restricted free agent on the open market on Sunday night. MassLive reported on Saturday that the Celtics had strong interest in retaining Queta despite turning down the option and now get the ability to secure his services on a long-term deal.

His stat sheet for the 2023-24 season paints a clear picture of why the Boston Celtics are highly interested in retaining his services. The former Sacramento King averaged 5.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks a game while being on the floor for only 11.9 minutes over 28 appearances.

Getting almost a block from a rotation player is great value for the Celtics, and fans will expect him to keep his production up as the team guns for another title.
