Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown pointed to the officials’ late non-call as the sequence that cost them the game in last night’s 105-103 home loss to the Utah Jazz.

The Boston Celtics were clinging to a one-point lead with less than 50 seconds left, with Brown looking to drive the ball from the top of the key. Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George slipped while defending Brown, tripping, causing Brown to trip and turn the ball over, leading to the go-ahead tip by Lauri Markkanen.

“You can’t have a mistake like that as an official at that point in the game,” an irate Brown said via ESPN. “It’s the fourth quarter, it’s a minute left in the game or less, and you completely — the whole staff blows the f***ing call, you know what I mean? Cost us the game. Unacceptable.”

After Markkanen’s tip-in, the Boston Celtics tied the score after Neemias Queta split a pair of free throws. Jusuf Nurkic eventually won the game for the Utah Jazz with a putback with 0.6 seconds left on the clock.

Boston Celtics News: Derrick White shoulders blame for the Utah Jazz loss

Derrick White had another disappointing outing on the offensive end against the Utah Jazz, as the Boston Celtics guard only had 10 points, five rebounds, six assists, three steals, and two blocks on 3-for-9 shooting from the field.

“I think, for the most part, I’ve been good with my energy even though I’m not shooting well. I thought I was (expletive) today, honestly,” White said via Sean T. McGuire of NBC Sports Boston. “I think I’m a big reason why they got back in that game.”

“It’s tough. Especially when you feel like you’re getting good looks. For a lot of us, we feel like we’re getting good looks and keep missing them. It’s frustrating. It’s part of the game, but you got to keep going,” he added.
