Former Boston Celtics center-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins recently revealed that he has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Because of this, he plans on losing weight this summer to get into better shape.

“I go to the doctor and the doctor’s like, ‘Oh, you know, they pinch your finger and then they put it in this thing or whatever.’ And he’s like, ‘Your sugar is like 300.’ You have type 2 diabetes. And he’s like, ‘Oh, and by the way, the route that you’re going, you’re taking like 5 to 10 years off your life.’ And I’m like, ‘Huh?'” Perkins detailed on the Road Trippin’ podcast.
“But it hit me for real, though. And once he said like, ‘Hey, you’re on the verge of taking five to 10 years off your life.’ I was like, ‘Oh, okay. Yeah, I’m done f***ing around.’ So, no more Dr. Peppers. No more, you know, Strawberry Fantas, none of that s**t,” he added.

Perkins added that he gained over 130 pounds since his NBA draft. The former Boston Celtics big man has used Ozempic as his goal is to reach 280 pounds, only 10 pounds above his playing weight.

Pritchard is coming off a career year with the Boston Celtics, averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 47/41/85 shooting splits across 80 regular season games (three starts).
