Boston Celtics news: Apart from some of the biggest superstars of the game going head-to-head in what should be a tremendous NBA Finals series, this will also be a showdown between two of the best tacticians in the NBA today.
For his part, this will be Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla’s first-ever trip to the Finals. Despite the immense gravity of the situation, however, the sophomore shot-caller has remained unfazed.

When asked about the extremely bright lights of the NBA Finals, Mazzulla dropped a defiant response:

That doesn’t sound like an NBA Finals first-timer to me. Then again, Mazzulla is not like your NBA head typical coach either.

While some fans might see this as a dig on the Dallas Mavericks, it just honestly doesn’t feel that way. This is not Mazzulla saying that their Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers was more monumental than what’s about to come. Rather, this is the 35-year-old sharing his honest thoughts on how the unbridled magnitude of the NBA Finals just isn’t getting to him.
Or at least that’s what I think.

Either way, Mazzulla’s skills will be put to the ultimate test here. He will be going up against a veteran coach in Jason Kidd, who himself has won a title with the Mavs as a player back in 2011.
Kidd would not have gotten to where he is right now if he weren’t an outstanding tactician, so the chess match from the sidelines is definitely something to keep an eye on as well throughout this series.
