The Toronto Raptors are on a roll but they would have suffered an embarrassing defeat on Wednesday if not for Brandon Ingram’s game winner.

The Raptors, riding on an eight-game winning streak, were pushed to the limit by Eastern Conference’s worst team Indiana Pacers in the NBA Emirates Cup and needed Ingram to take over and embarrass Toronto’s former hoop hero Pascal Siakam for the last play.

Ingram has the skill to hit a winner like that but it did not help Siakam that he is in foul trouble. That is what the Raptors forward took advantage. He said he thought that the Pacers star was in his mercy in that play.

Brandon Ingram on going at Pascal Siakam in crunch time: “I knew he was in foul trouble and I knew he didn’t want to be overly aggressive, so he was at my mercy at that point.”

Everybody looked for Brandon Ingram
BI3 is essentially the team’s biggest acquisition via trade since the break up of their 2019 team. He is getting paid for moments like this and this is why it is automatic for everyone to look for him.
Immanuel Quickley had that thought from the get go.
Immanuel Quickley on giving the ball to Brandon Ingram in the last possession:
“As soon as I got the rebound.”

“Everybody knows why BI is here, and what he does for our team. There is no secret there,” head coach Darko Rajaković added.

“He’s not just doing a great job of scoring in those situations, but also playmaking, and he showed that over and over again this season.”
With this win, the Raptors climbed to no. 2 in the Eastern Conference standings next to the Detroit Pistons. Next up for them are the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.
