Love is in the air for Lakers sophomore Bronny James, who recently celebrated the anniversary of his relationship with girlfriend Parker Whitfield. The pair went public last summer after being spotted together at the Paris Olympics in August 2024.

Bronny and Parker were courtside at the Games, cheering on his father, LeBron James, and Team USA during their run to the medal rounds, including the quarterfinal against Brazil and the semifinal versus Serbia.
Not one to hide his feelings, Bronny marked the milestone by posting a mirror selfie with Parker, captioned:
“Anniversary Dinner!”
Parker responded with three heart emojis and added her own mirror selfie with Bronny.

Their relationship is believed to have started during their time at Sierra Canyon, where both attended school. Early on, Parker kept things low-key, while Bronny James made his affection public whenever he could.
Lakers coach hints at bigger role for Bronny James
After an impressive NBA Summer League showing, Bronny is in line for a spot in the Lakers’ rotation this season, with a real chance at earning more minutes.
Lakers top assistant coach Nate McMillan praised the 19-year-old’s growth.
“He came out into this summer league and played every game this summer,” McMillan said on The Sports Shop With Reese + KMac. “You could see the confidence. He was much more relaxed than he was last year, and everybody would have been nervous as could be last season.”
He added, “His shot was never broken, but the confidence, you could see he was knocking down those shots, getting to the basket. Defensively, we wanted to challenge himself to pick up the ball … I love Bronny. Great young man, and we expect him to possibly get some minutes this year.”

Bronny will also have the guidance of Marcus Smart, the former Defensive Player of the Year signed by the Lakers on a two-year deal. Smart has long been one of the NBA player comparisons made for Bronny James before he turned pro.
Like Smart, he profiles as an undersized guard who can become a top-tier point-of-attack defender while offering reliable offense—qualities that could make him a valuable asset for years to come.
