Los Angeles Lakers 2024 rookie Bronny James’ girlfriend’s dad, got a good time making fun of analyst and broadcaster Stephen A. Smith, in light of an exchange with former First Lady Michelle Obama.

In an Instagram post, Bronny James’ girlfriend’s dad, Dondre T. Whitfield, got honest and expressed shi disagreement towards the recent statement of Stephen A. Smith.
“Stephen, giirrrllllll. 😂😂😂😂,” Whitfield wrote as a comment in a post.

Smith’s comment came as a response to Michelle Obama blasting him in one podcast episode. In turn, Smith clapped back and even likened the former First Lady to one of the characters in the TV show “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“I respectfully disagreed and still remain pretty salty about what you said about us,” Smith said on Saturday. “And I feel even more adamant about what your husband Barack Obama said when he talked to those men in Pittsburgh and implied that to not vote for Kamala is because we’re engaging in some sort of misogyny.”
Bronny James’ freshman campaign with the Lakers unfolded as a study in limited opportunity, as the 20-year-old guard saw scant NBA action behind established veterans. Selected 55th overall in the 2024 draft, James appeared in 27 regular-season contests, logging an average of 6.7 minutes per game and producing 2.3 points, 0.8 assists and 0.7 rebounds off the bench.

Dan Patrick Calls Out Bronny James for Absence in Luka Doncic Contract Extension Event
Veteran broadcaster Dan Patrick didn’t mince words after eight Lakers teammates and their head coach packed into Luka Doncic’s extension press conference at the UCLA Health Training Center over the weekend, calling out Bronny James for his notable absence.
While superstars like LeBron James were excused—Patrick noted LeBron was on vacation and FaceTimed Doncic—Patrick insisted that Bronny, as the team’s newest roster member, had no such excuse and should have shown up in person.

Patrick framed Bronny’s no-show as a missed opportunity to cement his place in the Lakers’ locker room. “The one person who I thought should’ve been there was his son,” Patrick said, arguing that if Bronny hopes to remain with the team once his father departs, he needs to stand alongside his teammates at career-defining moments.
He challenged the young guard to prioritize team solidarity over family vacation plans, urging him to cut short his trip and support Doncic face-to-face.
The commentary highlights growing expectations for Bronny to step beyond the shadow of his father’s star power and embrace his role within the franchise. With the 20-25 season closing in, Bronny James is expected to have a bigger role in his second year with the Lakers.
