Former NFL player Ryan Clark criticized LeBron James’ son Bronny James for only playing home games for the South Bay Lakers’ home games in the NBA G League. The younger James agreed not play the road games of the Los Angeles Lakers’ G League developmental team. The rookie has scored four points In his appearance in six NBA games this season thus far.
On “The Pivot” podcast that Clark co-hosts with Channing Crowder and Fred Taylor, the three discussed Bronny’s ongoing run in the G League, where he won’t be playing road games. Clark criticizes the startup because he believes it won’t allow the rookie to play to his maximum potential.
“What has Bronny James done where he should be too good to fly commercial?” Clark asked. “The pros isn’t about where you came from, how you were raised, what your parents had. Professional sports is about how well you can contribute.”

The one-time Super Bowl champion added. “If I’m Bronny James—which I’m not, and I haven’t grown up that way—I’m begging Rich Paul, I’m begging JJ Redick, I’m begging my father, ‘Please let me travel with this team.’”
Clark further added, “In the end, all of these accomplishments are going to be for LeBron James. Bronny James is gonna have money, but he ain’t gonna have the one thing that all of us ever wanted, [and that] is proof to ourselves.”
Bronny James play road games with the Lakers G-League affiliate… But Why? The first headline I read noted,”team flies commercial.” And?
What has Bronny earned? He should be begging his organization, & if need be his father to let him play. He should want to prove himself to his… pic.twitter.com/uKEltNLAuQ

According to Front Office Sports, security concerns are among the major reasons why the Lakers management isn’t allowing Bronny James to fly commercially as he is now a recognizable public figure much like his father LeBron James. The South Bay Lakers are staying in hotels that are accessible to almost anyone during their road games.
Given Bronny’s setup, it will be interesting to see if he can make up for the road games he skipped during home games. He has only played one game for South Bay so far, finishing with six points, three rebounds, four assists, and two steals in a 110-96 victory against the Salt Lake City Stars.

Bronny James’ father LeBron James hints about retirement
LeBron James has achieved his dream of playing with his son Bronny James in the NBA, and now talks about his potential retirement are brewing anew. The four-time NBA champion hinted about the twilight of his career, and he might not have long.
“I’m not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest,” James said in a postgame interview on Wednesday with CNN. “I don’t know how many years that is. If it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be. I said the other night, I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be the guy who is disrespecting the game because I just wanted to be out on the floor.”
LeBron, who turns 40 in December, has an incentive to wait for his second son, Bryce, who may be a potential draft pick in 2026. By that time, Bronny will have hopefully turned into a reliable player for the Lakers.
