Recent reports have suggested that Bronny James may spend his sophomore season with the Los Angeles Lakers as a starter and will replace his father, Lebron James, in the position.
However, a closer look at this Bronny James news raised questions as to the legitimacy of the information. The news was posted by an X account called Legion Noops, which is a declared parody account, and is parodying Legion Hoop, a reputable third-party basketball news account.

Furthermore, no reputable news outlet has reported on the matter, which only proves that the “report” only came from a parody account and is completely fake news.
Recently, former Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown has reignited debate over Bronny James’ place in the NBA, accusing the league and LeBron James of perpetuating nepotism. Speaking on his “Bust for Life” podcast, Brown argued that Bronny’s selection by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft was politically motivated and not based on merit.
“The narrative that they tried to say, ‘Oh, it’s nepotism.’ No, I think this LeBron James situation just proved that politics is in everything. Politics is in everything,” Brown added. “Politics is in sports. It’s in — It’s in everything. It’s at your job, my job. It’s in everything. It’s all about politics.”

Even with the criticism, the Lakers are committed to Bronny’s development and apparently don’t mind what outsiders think. The organization looks at Bronny as a project going forward, and it plans to work with him to improve his offensive game in the G League.
Bronny James Gets Praise Fro Austin Reaves for Preseason Play
Lakers guard Austin Reaves commended the progress of Bronny James during the training camp and preseason, expressing confidence in the second-year player’s ongoing improvements and competitive attitude.

Reaves knows what it’s like to feel pressure to try to make it in L.A. as an undrafted player. He said Bronny has been one of the more consistent players to perform on the floor. Even though Bronny was struggling to make shots in the first preseason game, Reaves called Bronny “a good kid” and believes that he has all of the right qualities.
“He’s been good,” Reaves said after practice on Tuesday. “Obviously, he didn’t shoot the ball as well as he wanted to the first game. I don’t think he took bad shots, all his shots were good. He’s become a really good player.”
Bronny James’ role for the upcoming season remains uncertain, with speculation ranging from a rotational spot to potential time in the G League due to the Lakers’ crowded backcourt.
